The history of this brand dates back to the middle of the 19th century, under the name Lord Byron, originally a Cuban brand created by two cousins Jose and Eusebio Alfonso, who opened a small cigar factory near Havana. The brand enjoyed success for years, but during the Great Depression, the brand was sold and these cigars disappeared. Almost 150 years later, Nelson Alfonso, who is the great-great-great-grandson of the original owner, re-established the Byron brand name as an ultra-premium cigar. Byron 20th Century are made from aged 4 years of selected tobaccos: Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and unopened tobaccos from the Caribbean and Central America. They are produced in Costa Rica in very limited quantities and can only be purchased in a few stores around the world that are certified by the manufacturer. The cigars are aged for five years in cedar rooms, medium to strong, with rich nuances of aromas of cedar, pepper, honey, molasses, spices and fruit notes.
